Few natural phenomena are as mesmerising as the aurora borealis. These shifting curtains of colour sweep across the polar skies, painting them in hues of green, pink, and violet. While their appearance may seem unpredictable, scientists have developed ways to understand when and where they might occur and by studying the activity levels, we can estimate the likelihood of seeing them.
NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE | 21:00
Report from Eldey: Today we expected many clouds in the sky with gaps here and there, besides a Kp index with activity 3! So off we went giving the lights a chance. Over the tour, we were surprised by completely cloudy skies and even lots of snow for a few minutes! However, after the weather stopped acting funny, we saw a big gap in the sky. The gap took over a great part of the sky and above us, making us very happy when we started to see a bit of green line in the sky. We had Northern lights! They were getting stronger by the minute and we could see a big arc in the sky, followed by some dashes and then even a bit of a 2nd arc! Pretty much worth it, a lovely unexpected night!
