Tour at 13:00

Dear reader. It does not happen often that we have Orcas/Killer Whales in Faxaflói so it gives me much pleasure to report that we only needed about 20 minutes to find the same family of Orcas we saw yesterday. They swam calmly and did not mind at all as we were staying close to them and observing their family live. Orcas, unlike other whales we usually observe, spend much time at the surface and show a big part of their large body every time they take a breath. It also becomes clear when looking at a group of Orcas like this, the deferens in size between members of the family. You see the dominant male, sometimes another smaller but still adult male, a few adult females, in this case 4, and then some younger animals. Altogether in this group about 9 or10 individuals of all sizes. Let’s hope they will stay here in the bay for a long time. After some 20 minutes with the Orca family we went a little further only to have another wonderful feast for our eyes. White Beaked Dolphins, at least a hundred surrounded the boat. They were having some herring for lunch and it did not matter which way we turned, everywhere we saw Dolphins. We spent a long time watching them feeding. On our way back we, again, paid the Orcas a visit before docking in Hafnarfjörður. Great tour in calm weather.
