✔ CLASSIC TOUR ON SCHEDULE |  13:00

Report from Elding: Beautiful conditions once again, with a little cloud cover which improved our sighting possibilities as it removed glare from the water. Very similar to the morning with limited bird activity but blow being seen in the distance. We travelled towards the south to begin with where we came across the pair of humpback whales who entertained our passengers from the earlier tour. Again, they decided to show their acrobatic abilities with the smaller individual breaching on two occasions.  They were very easy to observe, slowly moving, lifting their flukes a couple of times for deeper dives and coming close to our boat to investigate. A minke whale was also very easy to watch as it swam in the direction of the humpbacks meaning that three whales were with a 100metres of each other. Three of four more blows were witnessed a little further in the bay.

Report from Þruma: The sea was calm this morning with very little wind. The sky was cloudly but it was still bright in the bay. Perfect conditions for whale watching. We started with a short stop at an island near the harbour to see the atlantic puffins breeding there. We went further out where other whale watching boat where waiting. There was 2 humpback whales next to each other, so probably a juvenile and a female. The big one started to be very active with peduncle slapping, pectoral slapping and a nice fluke dive. Very impressive. The whales dived for a while. We saw a blow a bit further and we decided to follow it. This humpback was probably the same than before. We could calmly follow it, seeing it fluke dive 2 more times. We move a bit to another area to see if we could find something else. We found a 2 minke whale that were a bit hard to follow but everyone could see it. We came back and during the way we could see 2 more humpback whales, one being close to Reykjavik. Amazing tour !

Report from Elding: The calm conditions of yesterday continued which made for a great day of wildlife watching as we journeyed through Faxafloi with exceptional visibility. Small groups of birds were spotted swimming but not too many that would indicate cetacean feeding activity, but ultimately this was not needed due to the blow of a three humpback whales were sighted in the distance. We slowly approached to cause as little disturbance as possible and were greeted to a wonderful show from two whales, who displayed their full repertoire of behaviours which began with a breach, transitioning to pectoral fin slapping and lastly lobtailing. Whilst observing the whales a small pod of 4-6 white beaked dolphins passed across the at a 200metre distance. Although they appeared to be moving quickly and rather elusively. We left the whales after more boats approached and found one more humpback who performed several deep dives.
