✔ CLASSIC WHALE TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 09:00
Report from Eldey and Elding: We were very excited to get our large vessel Eldey out into the water this morning as we hadn’t used it since last summer. We had two whale watching tours going out this morning, the increase in passenger numbers has been incredible. The weather was not looking great today, we were expecting swell out in the bay so sea sickness precautions were needed. However we were super lucky as the whales were closer in to shore today and within the first 30 mins we were seeing life. At least 5 minke whales in the area feeding amongst the diverse and abundant seabirds, we had some great close encounters. Then we decided to travel further and saw a large blow, humpback whale! It was an individual we’ve seen many times over the last months and it was fantastic, surfacing often and showing its fluke also when diving down. It surfaced so close on a few occasions also. Just amazing. On the way home we saw we saw 2 harbour porpoises and 2-3 more minke whales. The swell had got to a few of our passengers but in general most were distracted by the wonderful wildlife on the tour. Including the very very cute Puffin.
