Report from Hafsúlan: The flat seas and the bright sun meant one thing: Advebture! And perfect sailing weather. And perfect sighting conditions. And warmth. And many other nice things. It didn't take us a long time before we found our first cetacean, a lone harbor porpoise, which was jumping out of the water. We continued on our path towards a humpback whale, in the distance which was slapping its pectoral fins, looking very comfortable and possibly building up a tan - humpback whales are renowned for their cyclist tan, which they build up during the summer to show it off in their wintering grounds. This one quickly decided that it was time for brunch, and went down on deep dives, possibly to snatch some krill. On our path around the bay we sighted a few minke whales, some of which were just quickly passing by, while others were showing off some moves by lunge feeding. We then found a pod of jumpy harbour porpoises and two big pods of ten ore more white-beaked dolphins, which were swimming around very fast with their calves. A wonderful day with wonderful sightings: during this trip we saw all the four species that are usually found in the bay!

Report from Hafsúlan: The sea conditions were perfect, only small waves and beautiful sunshine. Just a short time into our journey we were greeted by a small pod of harbor porpoises, which are usually extremely shy and very difficult to see. But the sea conditions and the grace of the sea gods let us have a good look at this tiny and ninja fast species. After that the all mighty ocean spirits had some more surprises up their sleeves for us; a pod of 5 or 7 white-beaked dolphins and countless minke whales all around us, close and far! All of this in fabulous sunshine and barely any wind. There couldn`t be a more perfect day for whale watching.

Report from Eldey: With such beautiful weather and a bay full of life, we had an incredible tour this afternoon. Minke whales were everywhere we looked: we probably saw over 20 individuals! We also spotted at least four different pods of 3-4 harbour porpoises, and we saw three different pods of active white-beaked dolphins, each consisting of approximatly 10 individuals. The porpoises - in classic porpoise style - were very fast and we could enjoy them for a few glimpses, but we saw the other two species almost constantly as there were so many individuals in the bay and we could see miles away due to the weather. We watched in amazement as the minke whales were feeding calmly and the dolphins were actively leaping out of the water - what a variety of species and behaviours to display the diversity of nature.

Report from Eldey: Most people would already count themselves lucky to see a whale once in a lifetime, but on today's tour we saw approximately thirty whales in one evening! We first spotted 3 to 5 shy harbour porpoises, and after that it was just sighting after sighting. Minke whales were everywhere we looked: in the distance, close to us, behind us, right in front of us - there must have been 25 - 35 individuals in the wider area. While we were admiring the minke whales we also spotted the blow of a much larger whale: the humpback whale! This individual, Mariupol, was rolling and pectoral slapping and lunge feeding, all within a few meters from the boat. We stayed a long time with this amazing animal and then we spotted the blow of another individual. We went to that area, on the way of course spotting many minke whales. The second humpback whale was Pointy! Pointy was doing very similar behaviour as Mariupol and came up two meters from the boat. With this unforgettable sighting in mind we sailed back to Reykjavik.
