Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00, 14:00  Premium Whale tour and on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

 COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised. 

Report from Eldey: The sunlight this morning was incredible with pink and orange light decorating the sky. We quickly spotted 4 or 5 dorsal fins of white-beaked dolphins, and in the same area the blows of two humpback whales. We were surprised to find that Mariupol was not with her ´best friend´ Neila (we have been seeing those two individuals together for a few weeks now and they seemed inseperable), but this time he was swimming together with another (unnamed) individual. The two whales surfaced right next to our boat and allowed everyone to get a good look at their huge bodies. Mariupol often showed us the fluke as these individuals frequently went for a deep dive that lasted between 5-10 minutes. After this sighting we continued into the bay and we found Neila by herself. Having seen three humpback whales, we sailed back to Reykjavík and warmed ourselves with some hot chocolates in the indoor saloon.

Report from Eldey: The wind had dropped even more as we sailed out this afternoon. It was a wonderful blue sky and even warm when sat in direct sunlight! We sailed out and quickly spotted two big blows in the distance. It looked the two humpack whales Mariupol and the unknown individual had not moved much from the morning. As we got closer one of them breached! They were still taking longer dives than usual so could be feeding. We enjoyed a few moments together and eventually sailed onwards further out into Faxafloi. As we did we spotted another big blow and found Neila the other humpback whale again. She was also busy feeding so we decided to head back to the other pair when she went for a fluke dive. They got really close to the boat again and one of them even did a small peduncle throw before going for a deep dive. We took this as the perfect goodbye and headed back to harbour.
