CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Today was a sunglass day, with a low winter sun shining on our eyes so we could spot the whales more easily. After going around Videy to check for animal activity we quickly, thanks to the sun, spotted a blow! As we were getting closer, a splash was seen not too far, so the plot thickened. We could say for sure after a few minutes that this animal was a humpback whale!! We were lucky once again, to have this huge animal so close to the shore. It did very short dives and spent little time above the water line, as it was constantly chasing fish around and lunge feeding! We spent a bit of time watching this beast and while we were waiting for it to come back up another 2 blows were seen about 500 metres away, so we went there to investigate. We got ourselves another 2 humpbacks, the same pair apparently as later the photos taken revealed. They were chilling next to Videy and soon started to move in a straight line towards the lone whale. When they got together, one of the pair seemed to be bothered by the presence of the lone whale and it did sort of a peduncle throw underwater but it could be seen from outside because of all the water and foam moving around. Soon they all did fluke dives and our time with the whales came to an end!
